This Thursday, the River Oaks Mustangs will take to the field against Class AAA Madison Ridgeland Academy (MRA) at 4:30 p.m. and Copiah Academy at 5:30 p.m. at Copiah Academy Stadium in their annual jamboree.
Each jamboree contest will be 20 minutes with a running clock except for the final 3 minutes where regular clock with time stoppages for in-completions, first downs and out of bounds play.
River Oaks coach Robert Hannah has his Mustangs facing larger stiff competition to start the 2012 season.
"MRA is the defending Class AAA runner up and we know that like to spread you out and throw the ball," said Hannah. "Copiah is primarily a running team so this jamboree will be an excellent opportunity for us to test our young defense."
River Oaks will be looking at two different offenses in hopes to sure up its young linebacker core.
"We have three new guys playing linebacker for us," said Hannah. "We are looking for them to make the right reads and be constantly around the ball carriers."
Last Saturday, River Oaks scrimmaged which according to coach Hannah he show a lot of good and a lot bad from his Mustangs.
