Peppers speaks to genealogy group about Web site

The NELA Genealogical & Historical Society met on Sunday, July 8, 2012, in the Louis Locke room of the main library.

James Free welcomed members and guests. Margie Brown gave the report of the June meeting. Lourine Baff gave an update on the 1940 census. Baff reported on a Genealogical Seminar to take place on Aug. 11th in Shreveport . Topics from the program include: So You Wantabee a Cherokee; Camping in Canaan 's Land; Forty Acres and a Mule; and Wanted Dead or Alive (Finding Southern Vital Records). Some plan to attend.

Lora Peppers from the genealogy department at the Monroe Main Branch of the Library was the speaker. Peppers topic was Find A Grave. She pulled up the website www.findagrave.org on the computer to show how one could use the web site.
