Capital Outlay kind to Ouachita

The state budget for the 2012-2013 fiscal year is lean and, some would say, mean in these tough economic times.

In spite of the tight budget, state lawmakers representing Ouachita Parish say the area made out fairly well in capital outlay funding.

Sen. Neil Riser chairs the Senate Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee, which handles the state's Capital Outlay budget.

Riser said several projects that had been stalled were included in this year's budget. Among those projects is the renovation of Sandel Hall on the campus of the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
