Police Jury passes on tax proposition

The Ouachita Council on Aging must wait another year before asking parish voters to support a tax to fund the organization's operations.

At a regular meeting of the Ouachita Parish Police Jury Monday night, Pat Regan presented police jurors with a formal request to place a property tax proposition on the Nov. 6 ballot. Regan serves as president of the Council on Aging's advisory board.

"Let our citizens decide how our seniors will be treated now and as they age," Regan said.

Regan proposed a 1.1-mill property tax assessment for the Council on Aging that would generate roughly $1 million annually.
