Independence Day momentous

This past Wednesday, July 4th, was "Independence Day."

"Independence" is a very interesting word…and used in many different ways. In this case, however, it has reference to our national Declaration of Independence from Great Britain in 1776. It is a day on which we celebrate that freedom.

How did all this come about? Long story…but in short, those early pioneers in the 13 Colonies longed to be free from the dominion of British control. Because of that, they set out with great determination. This led to an all-out war. They won that war, and so were free? That was…and still is ... a momentous occasion in the history of our nation.
