West Monroe pawn shop owner arrested over stolen property

A West Monroe pawnshop owner was arrested June 26, and charged with possession of stolen property.

Working in conjunction with Monroe police, West Monroe police detectives conducted a joint investigation aimed at the recovery of items taken during a residential burglary. The burglary occurred in Monroe.

During the investigation, detectives tracked the property in question to Joseph A. LaPietra Jr., owner of Bayou Pawn in West Monroe.

According to the West Monroe Police Department, LaPietra knowingly accepted several items of stolen property for pawn and failed to properly report, log and hold the items in accordance with Louisiana law.
