OPSB enters cooperative endeavor agreement

A new cooperative endeavor agreement with the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education could mean some Ouachita Parish Schools won't have to vacate the offices they've used for many years.

The agreement involves a state-owned building at 800 Claiborne Street in West Monroe. The building has housed the Student Support Services Department under an agreement with the state.

The original agreement allowed the parish schools to use the building rent-free, provided that the school system paying for property insurance as well as for maintenance.

That agreement was not renewed several years ago, possibly because of confusion and turnover at the state level during the last change of administrations.
A new proposed cooperative endeavor agreement was presented to the board at the last meeting.
