Learning through exercise

The halls of Riverbend Elementary School are normally quiet at this time of year while students and teachers alike enjoy a respite from schoolwork.

Wednesday morning, though, the halls were alive with the sounds of excited kids as more than 120 students took part in intensive reading and math instruction.
But before the students started their studies Wednesday, they were in for a special treat.

Frannie Sissnit was on hand to tell the kids about the importance of exercise.
Sissnit is the title character of the book, Frannie Sissnit Gets Her School Fit, a children's book published by Living Well Foundation.

The message of Frannie Sissnit is simple: get fit and stay fit.
