A look back at the 2011- 2012 college sports

The 2011-2012 college sports season started off with a Duck Hunt and ended within Stone's throw from the baseball college world series.

The LSU Tigers football team ushered in the sports year with a resounding 40-27 victory over the camouflage Oregon Ducks at the "House that Jerry Built (AKA Cowboys' Stadium)" in Arlington, TX.

The game was suppose to be closer since third ranked Oregon was blessed with the most speed in Pac 12 speed, but the fourth ranked Tigers just swallowed up the Ducks and only left feathers on the pretty carpet at Cowboys' Stadium.

The 2011 college football season was one for the ages as three teams from the state made it to the post season.

On the local scene, La Tech won the Western Athletic Conference championship for the first time since 2001. The year started out tough for the Bulldogs with La Tech losing four of its first five games, but Sonny Dikes crew rebounded and went on a seven game winning streak to close out the regular season.
