Super Regional returns to Box by Jimmy Touchet - posted Thursday, June 7th, 2012 @ 12:00 pm  E-mail Story |  Print Story  The LSU Tigers are looking to strike midnight on the Stony Brook Wolves Cinderella Season when the two baseball teams meet in the best of three series at Alex Box Stadium this weekend. Stony Brook is hoping to not write the final chapter of its fairy tale season in the same state that its story began. Stony Brook University is situated on the north shore of Long Island in southeastern New York which is approximately 60 miles east of New York City. The opening weekend of the 2012 Stony Brook season began down the road in Thibodeaux at Nicholls State University where the Wolves won two straight games against both Nicholls State and Alabama State to start the year 4-0. Ironically, Stony Brook (50-12) has the best overall record of the remaining sixteen teams left in the NCAA tournament. The Seawolves are the champions of the American East Conference and advanced to the Baton Rouge Super Regional as the number four seed out of the Coral Gables, FL (University of Miami Hosted the Regional) Regional.
