Session nears end

With just days remaining in the regular legislative session, lawmakers from northeast Louisiana say they are working to find "a happy medium" for what is in the best interest of the state and their constituents back home.

That's the assessment from Rep. Marcus Hunter, who noted that north Louisiana has too often gotten the short end of the stick in funding and resources.

"We're at the bottom of the totem pole," said Hunter, D-Monroe. "And as such, we are the locale that will be most greatly affected if money is not available."

By law, the 2012 regular legislative session must end by 6 p.m. Monday.
