He was my best friend and I miss him
If you knew him as Speedy, you grew up with him in Crowville. If you knew him as Pooby, or the little captain, you knew him at Louisiana College in Pineville. If you knew him as Coach, then you met him after he began his coaching career.
My wife, Donna, has always accused me of having a fantasy childhood while growing up in Tallulah. I must admit that I did live in a fantasy being the son of the head football coach who had lost only 10 games over a nine-year period, and had taken his teams to four straight state championships. I guess this is the next best thing to living a fantasy.
