Symphony hosts 'Pines and a Premier'

The Monroe Symphony Orchestra celebrates the world premier of Roger Jones's latest composition, "Live Oak," which will debut at the symphony's "Pines and a Premier" concert event.

The concert is scheduled for March 24 at the Jack Howard Theatre.

Jones is a composer and conductor familiar to Monroe. He served as director of the school of music at the University of Louisiana-Monroe until his retirement.

Jones has previously composed original music for the Monroe Symphony.
"Live Oak" was commissioned by symphony conductor emeritus Dr. Richard Worthington and his wife, Nancy, in celebration of the 40th season of the Monroe Symphony Orchestra.
