WO to battle with Neville - Lady Chiefs knocks off Franklin Parish 2-0
The West Ouachita Lady Chiefs are off to a solid start in 2012 having won eight of their last nine games.
On Tuesday, the Lady Chiefs hosted the Lady Patriots from Franklin Parish to open up their District 2-4A schedule. In a pitchers' duel, West Ouachita inched out a 2-0 decision over the gamely Lady Patriots.
The only road bump in the past nine games for the Lady Chiefs (10-3, 1-0), came this past Saturday in the opener of the Ouachita Lady Lions Softball Classic at ULM.
The Lady Chiefs fought hard but eventually fell 3-1 to the Class 4A number two ranked Alexandria Senior High (ASH) Lady Trojans.
The win for the Lady Trojans ended a tough week for the ASH softball program. First year ASH head coach Katherine Horton resigned citing personal reasons on Wednesday, March 7th.
ASH Principal Duane Urbina quickly promoted long-time assistant coach D.D. Edwards to head coach for the remainder of the season. Edwards was an assistant at ASH under Mark Rosier, who left after last season to become the coach at Louisiana College.
