Board members bicker over technicalities

For almost 15 minutes Tuesday evening, members of the Monroe City School Board argued about whether it was appropriate for a board member to ask to hear the system's financial statements during the meeting.

School Board member Vicky Krutzer asked that the accounting staff present the financial statement "to the public" during a portion of the meeting dedicated to consent agenda items.

"I would like the public to know where our finances are for January," Krutzer told the School Board.

Typically, the School Board includes approval of the monthly financial statements in a section of the agenda called the "consent agenda."
