When impossible dreams become possible

Golf is a game that millions of people enjoy. I tried on numerous occasions to learn to play golf. I even took several lessons from Johnny Meyers, the legendary golf instructor from Monroe.

Johnny and I decided that I was one of those rare breeds who could not play golf. He told me there were only two people that he could not teach how to play golf. And I was one of them. Now I am not telling the entire truth here because we all know that Johnny Meyers could teach anyone how to play golf. What I am really saying is that I did not give Johnny time to teach me. Patience has never been one of my virtues.

When I left the coaching profession, I would have other businessmen invite me to play golf. I would tell them that I did not know how to play. They never would believe me. All of them would think that I meant that I could not play very well. You know, they thought that I could at least shoot 90 or 100. On several occasions I would finally agree to go play with their group. After only about two or three holes, they would look at me and say, "You really can't play."
