Solid audit for parish school system

The Ouachita Parish school system received an unqualified audit for the 2010-2011 fiscal year, the best possible finding in an audit.

Accountant David Soignier presented the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report to the School Board at its regular meeting Tuesday.

The news was not all rosy, though.

Soignier, of the Monroe accounting firm Luffey, Huffman, Ragsdale and Soignier, told the School Board that the school district's general fund balance decreased by $1.5 million from the previous year. Net assets fell by $3.8 million.
