Republican Women hear from Cooksey

A former member of the U.S. House of Representatives credits Ronald Reagan with his interest in public service.

Speaking to a gathering of the Ouachita Parish Republican Women's Club, former U.S. Rep. John Cooksey said he was serving on the Republican State Central Committee in 1976 when he met with Ronald Reagan, who was at the time seeking the Republican presidential nomination.

Cooksey said it was from Reagan that he learned the importance of sound fiscal principles in government.
