Rams slams into finals
Heading into the Top 28 of LHSAA basketball playoffs, Ouachita Parish had three teams, Richwood Rams, Neville Tigers and Ouachita Lady Lions, still battling for state championship honors. Following this weekend's games in Monroe and Lake Charles, only the Richwood Rams remained.
The Rams (30-6) slammed the door shut on the Glen Oaks Panthers in route to a 68-56 semifinal victory at ULM's Fant Ewing Coliseum on Saturday.
Sophomore guard Reginald Johnson (22 points) and senior guard Martez Carter led the Richwood attack.
The Rams dominated the rebound battle 47-26 and forced 20 Panther turnovers in the victory. With the victory, the Rams moves on to face the defending Class 4A champion Bossier Bearcats (33-2) on Thursday, March 8th at 8:00 p.m. in the Class 3A state finals at Louisiana Tech's Thomas Assembly Center.
