Mayo proposes $55.3M budget With the end of the fiscal year rapidly approaching, the Monroe City Council is poised to take up discussions about the city's budget for the fiscal year ahead.
Late last week, copies of the proposed budget for the 2012-2013 fiscal year were distributed to members of the City Council. Compiled by Mayor Jamie Mayo's administration, the proposed spending plan for the new fiscal year tops out at $55.3 million.
"It's essentially a stand-still budget," said Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo. "We continue to be very conservative in our approach to doing more with less, in terms of providing services to our citizens."
