Real estate developers who build roads that they hope to eventually convert to public property can continue using concrete.

That's the case because the Ouachita Parish Police Jury opted not to pursue changes to parish road requirements that would have forbid the use of concrete.

The Police Jury dealt with the issue Tuesday during its regular meeting.

The Police Jury entertained not accepting concrete roads into the parish road system because maintaining and repairing concrete is far more expensive than repairing asphalt roads.
