Former WO Lady Chief leads ULM Softball pitching
The ULM softball team continues its month-long stint on the road this week with five games, beginning with a single game in Birmingham, Ala., against Samford Wednesday at 5 p.m. The Warhawks then face four squads at the College of Charleston Cougar Classic Friday through Sunday.
Led by West Ouachita product, Samantha Hamby (2-2), who has the low ERA of ULM's pitching staff, allowing just seven earned runs for 3.50. Haylie Wilson (1-1) has tossed the most strikeouts with 16.
ULM kicks off the College of Charleston Cougar Classic against host Charleston on Friday at 5 p.m. The action continues Saturday with games against Wagner at 11 a.m. and Lipscomb at 1 p.m. The Warhawks wrap up with a single game Sunday against Virginia Tech at 9 a.m.
The Warhawks faced their first big test of the season this past weekend when they traveled to the Hous¬ton Hilton Plaza Invitational to square-off with then- No. 17 Houston and McNeese State.
ULM's lone win came in its first game against the Cowgirls in a 6-2 decision, who the week prior defeated then- No. 1 Arizona State. It dropped its three remaining games, including two run-rules against No. 17 Houston and a close 2-0 result to eventual tournament champion McNeese State.
