Ladies dominate: 8 parish teams enter playoffs - 7 advance to the second round
Our parish ladies basketball teams took care of business in the first round of the LHSAA playoffs with seven out of eight teams advancing to the regional round.
The only team to fall was the Ouachita Christian Lady Eagles who valiantly lost on the road to the third seeded Vermillion Catholic 61-37.
Class 5A The Ouachita Lady Lions (28-8) will host the Sulphur Lady Tornadoes in the regional round of the Class 5A playoffs on Thursday, February 23. The Lady Lions had little trouble deposing Destrehan 50-36 in the bi-district round while Lady Tors knocked off the Terrebonne Lady Tigers 54-33.
Zachary will travel to West Monroe for a regional showdown with the Lady Rebels. West Monroe (26-6)advanced thanks to a 59-37 home victory over the John Ehret Lady Patriots while the Lady Broncos took care of Scotlandville 40-31 in the bi-district round.
Class 4A In Class 4A, the Wossman Lady Wildcats will host the number one ranked and last year's Class 5A State Champion - St. Thomas More Lady Cougars (26-1) on Thursday, February 23rd.
