Jindal appoints Katz to Tax Commission Gov. Bobby Jindal has appointed former Rep. Kay Katz of Monroe to the Louisiana Tax Commission.
Jindal's press office issued a news release Friday afternoon, announcing Katz's appointment.
Katz replaces Paul Hargrove of West Monroe as the member of the Tax Commission representing the 5th Public Service Commission district. Hargrove resigned from the Tax Commission last fall to run for Tax Assessor of Ouachita Parish. He was appointed to the Tax Commission by Jindal in 2008.
A member of the state House of Representatives from 1999-2012, Katz did not seek re-election last fall because she was term-limited.
The Louisiana Tax Commission administers and enforces all laws related to the state supervision of local property tax assessments and the assessment of public service properties. The commission also measures the level of appraisals or assessments and the degree of uniformity of assessments for each major class and type of property in each parish throughout the state. |
