Refuge marks 109 years In celebration of spring and the 109th anniversary of the National Wildlife Refuge System, Black Bayou Lake refuge is hosting its third annual trails event, "Walk Where the Wildlife Walks", on from 1-4 p.m. March 10.
Family oriented activities will include guided nature walks, GPS mystery cache challenge, Black Bayou Lake Scavenger Hunt (find only), discovery packs with activity sheet and the simple pleasure of walking or hiking our numerous trails. Children can enjoy the wildlife Challenge trail. There will be a 5K wildlife walk marked for those who want to "go the distance." The Visitor Center and Conservation Learning Center with live exhibits will be open. Children can also enjoy a take-home craft activity.
Canoes will be available free during our event for those who would prefer paddling to walking. Our marked canoe trail creates a loop through various areas of the lake. Event is free. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
