Residents of one south Monroe neighborhood could soon see the disappearance of an eyesore, thanks to the Ouachita Parish Police Jury.

At the a regular meeting Monday night, the Police Jury approved spending up to $10,000 to remove abandoned tires from a lot on Thelma Drive. The lot is situated near a major drainage canal and the J.S. Clark Cemetery.

Police Juror Ollibeth Reddix said the Police Jury should spend the money now in order to correct the problem for good.

For her colleague, Police Juror Pat Moore, removing the tires represented a more pressing threat.
