Mayo outlines administration's accomplishments Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo says the state of Monroe has never been stronger. Mayo delivered that assessment at the annual "State of Monroe" speech and event held Tuesday at the Monroe Civic Center.
"We have a record budget surplus," Mayo said in his remarks. "Our fire department is one of the best in the entire nation, major corporations are adding hundreds of good paying jobs, and we are making it happen by working together."
More than 500 people turned out to hear Mayo talk. Also on hand were representatives from each of the city of Monroe's divisions. They were there to inform citizens about the services and purposes of their departments.
