PAWS to host annual fundraiser parade
PAWS of Northeast Louisiana will host the sixth annual Krewe of PAWS Mardi Gras Pet Parade Fundraiser, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Commerce Street in West Monroe's Antique Alley.
Entry fees are $20 for the first pet and $10 for each additional pet. There will also be costume and float contests. Prizes will be awarded for best costume in the following categories: small dog, large dog and non-canine (cats, ferrets, guinea pigs, etc) as well as for best float.
Grand Marshals of the parade will be the 2012 winners of the Dancing With The Louisiana Stars competition. On the day of the event, registration, face-painting and children's games begin at 11 a.m.; contest judging starts at noon; and parade line-up is at 1 p.m.. The parade rolls at 1:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will fund the programs of PAWS and PAWS Spay-Neuter Services, a low cost spay neuter facility.
