Delta SGA celebrates black history In commemoration of Black History Month, Louisiana Delta Community College's Student Government Association will present Black Women in American Culture and History, a celebration of African American Women's achievements in the United States and beyond.
The program will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15 in LA Delta's third floor Theater. Guest speaker Iolanda Johnson will speak of her youth and her struggles in growing up with an abusive father, which is chronicled in her book "Somebody Called Me Hannah: An Overcomer's Story," and how those troubles helped shape who she is now.
Johnson will read excerpts from her book from 10–10:30 a.m. in Room 255. Two copies of her book will be given away during a drawing at the end of the program. Johnson, a teacher, motivational speaker and mentor is also the founder of Revelation of Glory Ministries, an evangelical enterprise that seeks to help people dealing with codependency, drug abuse, alcoholism, thoughts of suicide and other harmful issues. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
