Story Archives: St. Frederick boys soccer rolls to regionals

St. Frederick boys soccer rolls to regionals

In spite of a day-long delay and a location switch, the St. Frederick Warriors boys' soccer team dominated the Dunham Tigers 4-0 to advance to the regional round of the Division 3 playoffs.

The match was delayed from Friday to Saturday due to inclement weather. With rain continuing on Saturday, St. Frederick's grass field was not the ideal location for the post season match. And since LHSAA rules required that all bi-district games be completed by February 4, the Warriors moved the game to West Ouachita turf field.

Caleb Williamson led the Warriors (12-7-2) with three goals against Dunham. Patrick Kelly scored the other St. Frederick goal with an assist from Evan McCourt.

Warrior senior defender Alec Shell made the play of the night at the 32:52 mark of the second half, with a perfect assist from just over midfield to a streaking Williamson, who chipped the ball past the Tiger goalie into the goal.
