Parish Prep Hardwood Action Heats Up

Parish prep boys basketball teams are entering the halfway point of their district schedules and with only two weeks remaining in the prep basketball season, every game is critical to race for the district championships and post season seeding.

With four teams ranked in the top 10, District 2-3A is the toughest district in the state regardless of classification. To illustrate the highly competitive competition of this district, every team in District 2-3A has a viable shot of hosting a first round playoff game.

The Richwood Rams (24-6, 6-0) are well on their way to the district title. The closest team to the Rams is defending Class 3A state champion Carroll (15-6, 4-2) which sits two games behind the Rams. Richwood defeated the Bulldogs 69-65 on Tuesday night at Carroll's "Dog Pound."

The Madison Jaguars (20-4, 2-3) have only lost four games all year, but three of losses have come in district to showcase the fierce competitiveness in District 2-3A. Farmerville (17-8, 1-5) and Rayville (13-11, 1-4) round out the district in fourth and fifth place respectably.

This past Tuesday night, the picture in District 2-5A became clearer as the top two teams, Ouachita and West Monroe, met at the Ouachita's "Madhouse on Milhaven Road."
