MCSB approves $351,000 deal for tutoring Some students at three troubled Monroe City Schools will receive assistance from a Shreveport school services provider, with the aim of preparing the students for standardized tests.
At a special meeting Tuesday, the Monroe City School Board approved a contract with Fully Devoted Developer of Children Inc., a Shreveport-based non-profit that will provide 20 hours of intensive preparation tutoring to 210 failing students at Sherrouse Alternative School, Martin Luther King Elementary and Carroll High School.
The 20 hours of tutoring at the three schools will cost the city school system $351,540. At least one School Board member called the figure "ridiculous."
