Jindal sells education reform to chamber

Gov. Bobby Jindal says it's time to reward Louisiana teachers whose students perform well and get rid of teachers whose students are failing.

That was the word from Jindal late last week when the governor presented his plans to reform K-12 public education. Jindal talked about his plans to reform public education at a Monroe Chamber of Commerce luncheon held at the West Monroe Convention Center.

Jindal unveiled his plans to dramatically alter public education about two weeks ago during a speech at the annual meeting of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry. His proposals drew stiff resistance from the state's two significant teacher unions.
