Soccer season enters final week As the prep soccer season completes its final weeks of regular season action, it is time to look at those teams that have viable shot of making the post season.
Unlike most sports, LHSAA soccer is not divided into classes. Soccer is divided into divisions based on enrollment. Division 1 consists of the Class 5A teams.
Division 2 is made up of Class 4A teams. Division 3 is those schools that compete in Classes 3A, 2A, 1A, B and C.
To get into the playoffs, the top two finishers in each district automatically qualify for the post season tournament. The rest of the field is made up of wild card teams (Please see side bar on 3B for the LHSAA qualification procedures for selecting Wild Card Teams.)
In Division 1, the West Monroe boy's soccer team has clinched the District 2 championship with a 6-1 district record. The Rebels (11-6-3, 6-1) only district loss on the season came at the hands of Ruston (6-8-3, 3-2) on penalty kicks (soccer's overtime). For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
