Ouachita School Board approves bond sale The Ouachita Parish School Board accepted bids on Phase Two of a bond issue voters approved in April 2011 at its regular meeting Tuesday night.
The second issue of $9.5 million will pay for a new vocational building at Richwood High School; repair of entrance roads at Ouachita Parish High School; construction of multi-purpose buildings at Ouachita Junior and Sterlington High; upgrades of multi-purpose fields at Sterlington, Ouachita, and Richwood High Schools; and science lab renovations at Ouachita High. The bonds will also cover some minor renovations at schools in eastern Ouachita Parish.
Business manager Juanita Duke said there were six bidders in a very competitive process.
"The bid was awarded to Morgan Keegan with a rate of 2.62 percent over the life of the bond issue, which is twenty years," Duke said. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
