City schools earn clean audit

Monroe City Schools has something to brag about after an auditing firm issued the highest possible audit opinion of the school system's finances.

Certified public accountant Francis Huffman of Monroe delivered the news to the Monroe City School Board Tuesday night at its first regular meeting of the year.

"It's a very good report that you've received," said Huffman, of the accounting firm Luffey, Huffman, Ragsdale and Sognier.

Huffman's audit, an unqualified opinion, represented the highest possible marks for an annual audit, and it found no material weaknesses.
