Dearman says 'change' is coming in WM

Marvin Dearman has lived in Ouachita Parish since 1966.

The Hodge native moved to Monroe as a news reporter for KNOE. After he was drafted by the Marines Reserve, Dearman said his perspective shifted to public service.

"They drafted me and made me a military police officer," said Dearman. "When I got out, I went to the Monroe Police Department and said, 'This is what I want to do with my life.'"

Dearman, 63, retired from the Monroe Police Department in 2002 as a Major. Having lived in West Monroe since 1992, Dearman hopes to continue his public service career as a member of the West Monroe Board of Aldermen.
