Riley: Trust lacking throughout Monroe The next mayor of Monroe must balance the books in an economic climate of increasingly tight margins, according to Johnny Riley.
Riley is one of three candidates seeking to unseat incumbent Mayor Jamie Mayo. If elected, Riley said his background in business and government has prepared him for the task of managing the city's resources.
"When I say managing resources, I mean from a tax perspective," said Riley, 45.
"We have a limited number of tax dollars in the city and we need to make sure we manage those dollars responsibly and that we don't increase taxes," he said. Riley is a Monroe native and graduate of Neville High School.
