Monroe to honor King
The City of Monroe will celebrate its 33rd Annual Birthday Salute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from 11:30 a.m.-1 pm Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 in the W.L. "Jack" Howard Theater of the Monroe Civic Center Complex. Our 2012 Theme is "Learn from the Past, Serve in the Present, and Train for the Future!" Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Janet Floyd, and our soloist will be Dr. Louis Nabors.
The city will also be making formal presentations to the 2012 award winners in the following categories:
