Ruston lands Gatlins - Former ASH head coach & top Class 4A QB are n

For the second year in a row, Central Louisiana is losing a father – son / coach – quarterback combination to the Northeast Louisiana football ranks. After leading Alexandria Senior High (ASH) to a quarterfinal appearance in 2011, former ASH Head Coach Chris Gatlin and his son, C.J., are joining the Ruston High School football team.

Last season, former Buckeye head coach Buster Duplissey and his son Brent transferred to West Ouachita. Ironically, Duplissey took over for Gatlin at Buckeye after Gatlin became the head coach at ASH.

Gatlin, who served as the Trojans football coach and athletic director for four seasons, turned in his resignation Friday morning. Gatlin will stay through the end of the current semester's six weeks, which ends this Friday, before moving on to Ruston High School, where he will serve as an assistant under football coach Billy Laird.
