Jim Kelly: A coach for the kids - Coach Kelly honored for 28 years of coaching

When you first meet him, you would not know that this man has coached generations of West Monroe athletes. There are no trophies or plaques hanging in his workshop.

That is Coach Jim Kelly. He is not in for the accolades. He is in it for the kids.

For his years of service to the West Ouachita Youth Sports Association (WOYSA), Dixie Youth and West Monroe Recreational Basketball League, Kelly has received the first Outstanding Ouachita Parish Volunteer Coach Award.

Throughout the years, players, coaches and administrators come and go. There are few that remain for the love of the game — they are the real heroes of the sport.

Jim Kelly is one of those heroes.
