Grant funds safer highways
Drivers traveling along a busy West Monroe street Friday night were in for a surprise.
More than two dozen officers from the West Monroe police department, University of Louisiana-Monroe and Louisiana State Police Troop F were on hand at the intersection of Stella and 4th Street to conduct a DWI checkpoint.
The checkpoint was funded by a federal grant to the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. The LHSC in turn distributes the money it receives through competitive grants to law enforcement agencies throughout the state.For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
