WMPD plans sobriety checkpoint
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
On Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, the West Monroe Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint.

The goal of the checkpoint will be to intercept impaired drivers before they have a chance to cause injury to themselves, their passengers, or members of the public.

"Our message is simple, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.  Drinking alcohol and driving do not mix.  If you plan to consume alcohol, you should also plan not to get behind the wheel of a vehicle or ride a motorcycle," said Chief Christopher Elg.

Other agencies assisting in the checkpoint include the Louisiana State Police and the Monroe Police Department.
