When watching the 2011 Neville Tigers' defense in a game, it is hard not to see a play without senior linebacker Ricky Wyatt somehow involved. Wyatt's tenacity for blowing up opposing offenses was a vital part of Neville's Class 4A state championship run toward a perfect 14-0 season.

If you look at his stats, Wyatt was in on 136 tackles this season. What is more amazing is that 110 of those stops were recorded as solo tackles.

"Ricky loves tackle football," Neville Coach Mickey McCarty said. "He is hard working young man with an infectious attitude for not only football, but for life."

McCarty is not the only football shouting accolades for Wyatt's talents. In September, Louisiana Football Magazine's Lee Brecheen wrote an assessment of Wyatt presence on the field.

"Ricky Wyatt is one of those 'football players' on the field," Brecheen wrote. "He makes plays, is tough as nails, hits like a truck, and is a team leader. This kid is full throttle for 60 minutes for his team."
