God's grace at Christmas By Rev. Ted Freeland Special to The Citizen
Matthew 1:1-17 On Christmas day there will be a lot of kids waking their parents up early to see what gifts are under the tree. Many will find great joy on this day. Some will experience sorrow, loneliness, and brokenness remembering Christmas's past where parents, children, or relatives where such a big part of their Christmas but are no longer. We will still have U.S. soldiers in harm's way in Afghanistan and other parts of the world that will miss being with their families again as they bravely keep watch over us and those who wish to harm us.
There will be much food given out at Food depot's, Salvation Army, and beds at Grace Place for the homeless. There will be children coming home from college to take a break from the ardors of final exams and the stress that accompanies transition into adulthood. And there will be those who every Christmas travel long distances to see family or friends to conquer loneliness, boredom, depression or just to reunite with their families.
