Area law enforcement officers will be out in force in the coming days, as more drivers take to the road in search of that last minute Christmas gift or for a rushed trip to Grandma's house.

Troopers stationed in Louisiana State Police Troop F will man highways and roads throughout the region in order to provide a little extra holiday safety, according to Trooper Mark Dennis.

"Anytime there is an increase in traffic like you see around the holiday period, the likelihood of crashes increases as well," Dennis said.

"Unfortunately, we do see an increase in our serious crashes and fatal crashes at this time of year."
