Tight finances hinder parish

The Ouachita Parish Police Jury anticipates posting "modest budget deficit" in its general fund in 2012, according to outgoing Police Juror Charles Jackson.

That revelation surfaced in spite media reports that the Police Jury was poised to approve a more than $60-million budget for the 2012 fiscal year that included a small surplus.

The Police Jury is expected to approve the 2012 budget at a regular meeting Monday, Dec. 19.

"The general fund will be budgeted with a modest deficit," said Jackson, who serves as the Police Jury's finance committee chairman.
