Monroe seeks funding for new flood pumps Residents of two flood-plagued communities in Monroe could see flooding subside in their neighborhoods if the city of Monroe secures state funding to pay for drainage improvements.
At a regular meeting Tuesday, the Monroe City Council unanimously approved a measure authorizing Mayor Jamie Mayo to begin the application process to garner state grant funding to reduce flood damages in the Georgia Street-Winnsboro Road area on the south side of Monroe and along Rochelle and Roselawn avenues on the north side.
