Former Richwood mayor's conviction upheld

The Louisiana Supreme Court has rejected an appeal to overturn the conviction of an area elected official.

A 4th Judicial District Court jury convicted former Richwood Mayor Ed Harris for writing more than $90,000 worth of checks to employees during his final days as mayor. Assistant District Attorney Neal Johnson served as lead prosecutor on the case.

Last week, the state Supreme Court upheld that conviction for malfeasance in office related to those actions.
