Childhood memories lift spirits

One Sunday afternoon I made a trip through memory lane of my childhood stomping grounds in Tallulah. As I crossed the Madison Parish line, I thought of Bear Lake.

Oh, how many times did we pass Bear Lake going to take some of Daddy's players home after practice? I learned a lot riding with my daddy taking those boys home. It was always an adventure to ride along with him. I was not in school yet, so I got to go along because I did not have to get up for school.

About 20 minutes after I passed Bear Lake, I was pulling into the parking lot of First Baptist Church. This was the church that we attended when Daddy was the head football coach at Tallulah. Besides farming, football and church were the life blood of Madison Parish. As I stepped out of the car, I could visualize a game going on. I could see those old blue and gold jerseys and gold helmets.
